At American universities, coaches for men's sports make over $800,000/year on average, across all sports, from football to lacrosse. Most sports don't make net income at most universities, so are tax-subsidized. Professors make an average of $92,000. Does this make sense?

I can only speak to the budget layout of my alma mater, but it clearly stated net income from the Athletic Department, and how it was dispersed to the rest of the university. Of course, I can't say that every university does the same.

My university paid 150 million dollars to construct a second football feild indoors so that the players could stay warm during the winter. Really.

Great. The athletics programs probably paid for a bunch of other shit too, except for the performance of its athletes.
