Yes. It’s called the free market. Also, your “on average” is the intellectual equivalent of saying “on average” women are paid less than men, but not looking at other factors. Same with “most” sports.

It’s supply and demand. Top coaches require top salaries. Tax subsidies are a separate issue that goes way beyond college Sports to things like farm, oil, ethanol, exports, housing. If that’s your issue then say so. Don’t use it as a back door attack on coaches salaries.
