Can we agree that if you are a mentally ill individual you shouldn't be able to get a weapon?

Let's just say we start somewhere. Those who are incontrovertibly insane. And convicted violent felons. We can build from there. But let's start.

What about the rights of everyone else to their "Life Liberty and and pursuit of Happiness"? Not able to do that anymore in the US. If I can't send my kid to school, can't go to the movies, church and feel at peace or safe at all or go anywhere because of this.

Okay, let's do it. Because life is one of the rights endowed by our creator and I don't remember guns being mentioned in that list. Can we agree that my grandchild's right not to be killed is greater than anyone's right to a Glock? It may not be fair, but life isn't fair.

The thought of having the police determine the status of our mental health and treat it? (This is what Sheriff Israel with calling for) Hell no! What if my views don’t fall within societal (leftist) views? Would I be considered an enemy of the state if I speak out?
-
Society is not Leftist. Leftist is by definition left of what the actual center is. The majority of leftists are pro gun, and at the very least staunchly against further stigmatising mental illness.
