We already know that low conscientiousness predicts both poor health outcomes and short-term mating strategies. Does 'toxic masculinity' still predict anything after controlling for IQ and the Big Five personality traits that are known to predict mental and physical health?

I know. But clinical psych has a serious PR issue among most men. The solution isn't demonizing men with labels like 'toxic masculinity'. It's developing new kinds of therapy that work better for men, and that they trust are masculinity-positive.
-
That's true. That's a demonization term for sure.

I thought the empirical evidence was that most psychotherapy doesn't have net benefits for most people, with a few narrow exceptions for specific time-limited treatments. Maybe men are right to be skeptical.
-
Reminds me of my senior year high school class called Becoming a Man. Private, Catholic, all male. First day of class, teacher says: "Those of you who need this class the most, will get the least out of it; those of you who need it the least, will get the most out of it."

Yep, CBT and DBT are among the time-limited treatments I was thinking about. But most guys don't read the latest meta-analyses about evidence-based treatments. They just feel deterred by feminized therapy culture as experienced and as portrayed in media.
-
Is 'feminized therapy culture' the culture that guys like Jon Hamm, Tom Fletcher, John Green,
@ChrisGethard (Career Suicide!!!), etc., etc., comfortably describe to young people when these people express feeling lost, scared, depressed, anxious? Russell Conjunctions always win!

I know it's a waste of time, but I opened the pdf and looked at the table of variables and correlation with PM or NM. Then I looked at the titles of the primary sources. Not convinced: highly subjective coding and, as you said, tautological.
