Over 50 billion farm animals are being raised for human food right now, mostly in bad conditions. Showing any concern at all about the vast scope of this suffering provokes many twitter trolls to call one a 'soyboy'. Ah, life's rich diversity of ethical principles.

I strongly supported the Paleo diet in my 'Mate' book (2015), and think it's a great foundation for physical health. But since then, I've grown more concerned about the ethical problems with factory-farmed meat and fish.

More transparent, well-validated labelling, so consumer choice can drive the shift. I'd also be reluctant for the government to get more involved.

I agree. Low cost meat comes at a price. Maybe lab grown will be cheaper, healthier, and more ethical/ sustainable.
