He was far Left in many ways, but libertarian in others ways, and a Neocameralist neoreactionary in other ways (the ways the Minds ran the Ships and Orbitals). That ideological complexity appeals to me.

Isn't it possible to cultivate a vivid imagination about our possible futures by reading about the past? Were there no trustworthy or gifted politicians before SF existed as a genre?
