Anyone else find they're getting *more* sensitized to upsetting fiction as they get older, not less? I expected it to go the other way

I'm more scope-sensitive. One person suffering in fiction doesn't move me much, but whole communities suffering seems much worse. And anything that threatens the cosmic endowment seems utterly horrifying.
