I am sympathetic to that view but is government really a bloated parasite, or perhaps more like an infestation that has multiplied out of control (ie should be a a handful of birds pecking at insects but is now millions of lice)? Does this matter?

It just seems to me that "parasite" is quite a strong, anchored allusion but I don't see them as capable of bloating so much as of multiplying. This makes their eradication harder, too.
