A dominant ideology isn't any single view, trail, compass, or map. It's the 'quality control officer' at the central map factory, who erases all detail from forbidden zones and writes 'here be monsters'.

My guess is you're not a big fan of someone like Foucault, and yet this statement sounds entirely Foucauldian (it's at least reminiscent of his earlier books). Is this a conversation you're having in your circles?
I learned a lot from reading all of Foucault in college, and then discovered evolutionary psych, and have been waiting in vain for someone to rationally integrate them.....
