Or proud of their business or company? Or city? Or country? Or children? Or spouse? Must pride be limited to one's individual accomplishments? Why?

I’ve never felt proud of something handed to me, have you?

I get being proud of the actions of individuals in one’s lineage but pride in a race seems close identity politics to me. Being proud of one’s culture but only if you interact with it as JBP mentions also seems reasonable. This also applies to being ashamed.

You can say you are proud of a race as long as it isn’t the white race. The problems w such pride are contained in my sentence.

If you take pride in what your race has accomplished, do you also take credit for the atrocities of that race? We all can root for our "team" now and then, but seriously, tell me how great a race is, & I'll show you an abomination of a human from that race.

Your profile says you're pro-civility. Hmmm.

Hmmm. And? Did I become uncivil? It seems quite an obvious observation to me that individuals are capable of both great and shameful things, regardless of what race they are.
