Those who have accomplished something as individuals feel no need to be proud of their race...
That's simply not how pride works in most cultures throughout history. You're redefining the emotion beyond all recognition. Pride is often collective and genealogical.

Pride does not simply 'work'. People often abuse the term because of not being able to precisely communicate their own (often minor, if existing at all) accomplishments.
