Real cultural appropriation -- that's when someone is proud of his culture despite having done nothing to support it, extend it or transform it: a message to the far right.

Kids play at mummies and daddies and shopkeepers and what have you long before they're capable of being these things...

You think kids can't feel real social emotions like pride?

There should be a positive contribution minimum

I mean, no? Pride is an emotion you feel when *you* personally do something well. My kid feels proud when he makes something cool in Minecraft. Feeling proud about something someone you don't even know did is weird. I don't think kids even do that commonly.

Who said kids do "nothing"? Participating in their own development, education etc. Is in itself a contribution to society.

Good question. I think pride should follow reason. If the kids don't know much about their culture then their pride is based on nothing. As long as pride doesn't manifest in a superiority complex, it's not an issue, I think. The far right has a superiority complex, though!

A minimum requirement for being proud of something is to be able to understand its essence.

Don't put the "allow" to alter the context. No one is withholding your feelings. Kids SHOULD proud for the people that did support and extend the culture. There was a time when someone had to actually contribute to earn respect and recognition.
