From our new paper on why Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI) is an extremely stupid and reckless idea.https://twitter.com/DegenRolf/status/931905272762781696 …

If they're much more moral than us, then we must appear very evil to them, and perhaps deserving of extermination.

If they are truly more moral than us, and considering they must have been as moral as us at some point, then they would understand why we appear as evil as we do and allow us to evolve, perhaps even give us a hand. Paternalistic aliens.

They are either more stupid than we are, in which case: why bother finding them. Or they are more clever than we are, in which case they'll find us first anyways, so why bother.

There are proposals for governments and other big organizations to send out signals. They could reasonably reach a lot further.

What earth resources could possibly be of interest to them? Seems to me that anything from earth could be obtained more easily elsewhere.

E.g., if you want H2O, O2, or metals, asteroids or moons of Saturn are better. Lower gravity and no chance of apes lobbing nukes at you.
