It is almost as if masses of Americans today WANT to be thought of as oppressed. As if it gives them a voice. How do they not see, that when meritless, it only serves to make them look desperate for attention and desensitizes the rest of us to REAL problems.

Should we say something is offensive if the intention was to offend, or if somebody takes offense, or if it would be judged offensive by some kind of neutral objective referee?

Some people may be offended by freedom and they are obviously not oppressed by it. So being offensive doesn't necessarily mean being oppressive
