This deserves a more detailed exchange of views in a longer format. I expect we have much common ground, but some disagreements about the optimal variety of mating scripts, norms, and contracts, given individual differences.
P.s. Where 'scripts, norms, and contracts' mean roughly what you're calling 'socially sanctioned constructs'
