Smart/conscientious people might have more kids if it was socially acceptable to tell them their kids will be better behaved than average

Yeah, I agree. Poses some problems for social adjustment though.
Although, good novels give kids great insight into other people's thoughts and feelings. Supercharges social intelligence, all else equal.

Totally agree, but does make it tough for kids who love reading to relate to others their own age (speaking from experience)
