When I do class polls, of every 100 college students, only 2 or 3 have any clear idea of their free speech rights. High schools failed them.

because you're overplaying the value of free speech. Most kids arent opening up newspapers who risk being shut down by the government
Most kids are getting news from social media companies with ideological biases built in to search results.

the culprit is technology. The medium is shaping opinions. This isnt "free speech" this is about how society reacts to tech innovation

Point is, the young people don't have even a basic grasp of their political rights to deal with the tech innovations.
