It's OK to be consciously apolitical. The best ways to improve long-term, global, sentient welfare might not run through political channels.

It's not possible to *be* apolitical. Anyone who goes with that idea is probably just expressing how privileged they are.
Most people don't vote, or follow politics, or learn much about issues, or know who key cabinet members are. Are they all 'privileged'?
