The use (&abuse!) of science is one thing. But the content is another. I've only perused it quickly, but what facts in memo are wrong? 1/2

Progressive values are best supported by an unflinching commitment to justice coupled with equally unflinching commitment to truth. 2/2

Yes. There are myriad factual errors in piece as well as broad conceptual ones. Am traveling offline for most of day but will elaborate.

Am curious about the errors. I will read the memo carefully later today too. The brouhaha online strikes me as overwrought so far.

A few places to start re: errors 1) if you say the word “distribution”, show or cite same. Burden of evidence is on the author.

      2) differences btwn sexes “universal across cultures” - certainly not all diffs; which specifically are we talking abt?

      3) “underlying traits are highly heritable” - sex is, by definition, not heritable (unless we’re taking about roundworms working as SWEs?)

Then we can step back a bit: gender balanced teams are better performers http://science.sciencemag.org/content/330/6004/686 … (contra “disastrous consequences” argument)

Last: Q raised in context of biology; even if distributional diffs exist btwn 🚹&🚺, no way to disambiguate from decades of 🐴💩 in STEM ed

Overall: this rant is not science; science presents evidence to support assertions (all this before we even get to the moral component…)

To be fair, he did later cite a paper that, in the study authors' own words, demonstrated that ⬆️ testosterone made people bad at math.
