Who says I've never tried a vegan diet? I tried one for 3 weeks, not by choice, when I was 16. Vegan diets can work, but they need planning. https://twitter.com/pepe9920/status/862017611361550338 …

Most effective way to reduce animal suffering is to just stop eating chickens. That's about 80% as ethical as going full vegan.pic.twitter.com/fEhMUZ0dmy

Fair. I'm not much a fan of chicken anyway. Seafood is where it's at.

Seafood is the best! I'd gladly give up beef, chicken and pork to only eat seafood 😍

Little fish like sardines are worse than chicken; big fish like tuna are about like beef (but with a little more mercury)

Doesn't the capacity of a chicken to suffer as we understand it, relative to an intelligent animal like a pig, matter?

For sure, relative sentience matters. That's why my gf @sentientist advocates eating bivalves: https://sentientist.org/tag/bivalves/

I doesn't make sense to calculate it this way. If it did, then switching from eating vertebrates to insects would make matters worse.

But the greenhouse emissions produced to grow a kg of beef are 7.5 times higher than to produce a kg of chicken.

What about environment impact ? 1kg of chicken is about 1/6th of 1kg of beef to produce.
