Should faculty employed by US public universities have to take an oath to defend the Constitution, including #1A free speech rights?
But their public universities are bound by the Constitution, whatever their citizenship.

True. Still creeped out by govt oaths in education though. Like, 1A allegiance is great. But what else could be mandated?

Due process would be nice. Freedom of religion. Lots of things colleges don't respect now.
