I haven't read White Fragility. Social psych shows people are generally defensive about threats to group self-esteem, so all groups are fragile. One could empirically test the claim that U.S. Whites are more fragile than average, but I don't know if anyone has.

Many discussions between Glenn Loury and John McWhorter are to some degree about deflection of criticism...which can be called fragility.

Brainstorming here: is there overlap with “stereotype threat?” This covers issues w self-esteem in PoC communities. I know some of the literature is shaky but maybe worth a look
