It is baffling to me, that they actually believe that this will somehow hurt or weaken white supremacist. Also the idea that all black people share a common history simply because of their skin colour is so condescending. Who made them the spokesperson for all black people?

The New York Times decision to capitalize "Black" but not "white" feels like a subtle dig at black people. Their argument is that Africa is homogenous whereas Europe is varied. Minimal research will show that languages, cultures, and histories vary widely on both continents.
