As far as I'm concerned, if you've started your own business from scratch & it now employs at least 20 people so they can support their families, you've earned a PhD in general life competence.

Why 20 employees?
I figured 3 would be like a BA and 10 would be like a Masters. But it's kinda arbitrary, obvs.

A job is a HS diploma. Self-employed is a bachelors degree. And a business with employees gets you your Masters.

Obviously more to it. A self sustaining career in sales is often the equivalent of owning your own business - if the company gives you a decent cut
