I've decided to reclaim some of the free speech I have been losing lately. Here's my free speech opinion for today: "White privilege" is a racist term. In my opinion, anyone who uses it is either a racist, an idiot, or an asshole. "Rich privilege" is a thing.

I like the term "status priviledge" to describe "rich privilege," since "rich privilege" is not really about money, its more about status

I'd say it's about power. Money and status are interchangeable if you are clever about it.

Yes, though "clever" is pretty rare in that domain. Most rich people are just rich, not high status. And many high status people, while not poor or even middle class, don't really have real money.

Clever is relative. Doesn't take much cleverness to donate to a hospital and ask them to name the new wing after you. And if you have status in this country, you can always monetize it.

Totally true. I think we may be talking about different forms of status. You're talking about community status, and that is 100% correct. I'm talking about media status, and that is all about aligning with the right beliefs.

Money easily buys status, less easily buys fame, but it's quite difficult to buy prestige. Whereas fame is very easy to monetize, prestige is moderately easy to monetize, status harder to monetize. Different forms of human 'social credit-scoring' serve different functions.
