If behavior genetics studies show that shared family environment (family SES) has nearly zero effect on adolescent or adult intelligence, is it really reasonable to try to 'control for' SES in seeing whether intelligence predicts academic achievement? Genuine question.

I’m no expert but sense that Judith Rich Harris may be referenced. In The Blank Slate I believe Pinker cites her regarding (negligible) impact of environmental factors.
