This piece was and still is wonderful. I am thankful to you for writing this piece. Cancelling is why I locked my twitter today. Too many people are getting cancelled. It takes someone more neurotypical than myself to stand up to that.

I loved this article and agree with your observations. It's telling however, and maybe a little obtuse, that you mention Alan Turing. He was cancelled. Darwin is still despised by politicaly powerful creationists. Puritanism isn't new, just its repritoire of taboos.

Another difference is, in the good old days, the puritans at least knew they were puritans, and weren’t under the misapprehension that they were freedom fighters.
