While you're distracted by riots, activists are trying to censor & fire every professor who disagrees with PC orthodoxy. Dozens of professors suddenly face cancellation this week. This is the Purge. This is the Zerg Rush. This is it. We need your support, or academia falls.
Lots of retweets & replies saying 'academia already fell' or 'let it fall'. There are still good & brave professors fighting for free speech. Letting them get purged will just lead to an ideological monoculture that makes universities _stronger_ as indoctrination machines.
When 95-98% of the institution is converged, what’s the point of holding on to the remaining 2-5%? It only serves to give an illegitimate institution legitimacy. We need to destroy any remaining myths about “a good education” so people stop paying to brainwash their kids.
Seems like the best bet is starting some parallel system. Given the inflated costs it should be easy to disrupt. I will disclaim that I know nothing about the feasibility.
Once the left captures an institution, it's no longer salvageable and should be abandoned. We need to create new institutions and compete that way.
There may be a point at which uni is so expensive, so devoid of merit-based selection & inculcated value, that it provides no net income value for enough ppl that the bubble bursts... in spite of increasing ideological consolidation. It pains me, but I don't see much value now.
As much of a tragedy as it would be if these last bastions of truth lose their jobs, I can't help but feel we are reaping what was sown long ago. Situations like this don't just happen. This has been on simmer for a long time and anyone who couldn't see it coming must be blind.
Won't that force them to build something better?
It's just a matter of time before they are all fired. This isn't the last purge!!!
Maybe they should band together, and start viable alternative.
An ideological monoculture? I guess many departments still have a token libertarian or conservative. Or do you think it’s currently more balanced than that?
