Should we also stop using correlation coefficients, cognitive tests, fingerprint analysis, & weather maps, since Galton invented them? Should we stop using principal component analysis, chi-squared tests, & the Phi coefficient, since Pearson invented them? Just curious.

No. We also shouldn't stop using the buildings. But no one's proposing that, so...

If you believe in moral contagion at all, why would you want to use a statistical test invented by a 'deplorable'? What kind of monster are you, still using correlations?

Many are demanding that @ucl should disavow Galton & Pearson. Why stop at renaming buildings? Why not disavow all of their ideas as well?

Clearly no, but that will be a real argument soon.

Certainly, if we stopped using correlation coefficients and chi-squared tests it would be a very good thing #phacking

Well, this is certainly a surprise. Last I heard the committee advised to take a further look at this, not start the renaming process. And in any case, at this time, wouldn't it be best to direct any extra resources towards existing research (covid) support, student support, etc?

Nobody should be using correlation coefficients. It's just simply poor statistical practice.

No, but if Hitler invented a statistic and called it the Hitler-test, I'd be fine with changing the name.
