I have to confess that I was very wrong about academia. It's much worse than I imagined.

It's been a long, slow frog-boiling exercise. Wokeness happens imperceptibly, softly, slowly ... and then all at once it takes over and abuses its power. 'Cthulhu may swim slowly. But he only swims left.' -- Moldbug.

Academia & legacy media are by far the best institutions we've got. Do they have problems? Sure. But IMO "burn it all down" and/or "it's irremediably broken" is a very dangerous response. You think OAN is better than the NYT? Liberty U is better than Harvard? Come now.

I think they are necessarily countervailing forces, and I hope to see more. I really don't want to burn it all down, especially not STEM. But the social sciences? Doomed. Those of us who care about truth more than social justice will need to start diff institutions.

Just STEM? Who's going to translate your ancient texts? Who's going to do your top-notch archaeology? Your linguistics? I was at U Chicago Div School, and I don't care how political you think the academy is, these were some smart mother-f*ckers doing outstanding scholarship.

Also, _if_ the humanities can be saved, they're _incredibly_ good civilizational value for money in terms of scholarship & research, compared to huge STEM labs. (But ditto for pure mathematics)

They can't be saved by reform. They can be saved only by revolution and clearance.
