I'm not so sure about #1; behavioral genetics by and large indicates that 90% of your job as a parent is to: (1) pick a mate with decent genes; and (2) feed your kids regularly, and don't drop them on the head.

Largely agree. Half the work of American parenting is trying to look like a 'good parent' to other parents who don't believe in behavior genetics.
