An EMP from the sun would be catastrophic. Same goes for North Korea, Iran, China or less likely probably, Russia, setting off a bomb or releasing it from satellites. Anything over 30 kms high over the US can wipe out entire grid of the USA through cascading effects. It's serious
I do worry that most modern military assets don't seem to be hardened against EMPs.

At the least they should be hardened and I believe they are now (TBD) but even then one may not know who delivered the bomb and who to retaliate against. Meanwhile if electricity is lacking for more than a few days, deaths will mount exponentially. It is EASY to kill off the West
