I have recently watched speakers on the EMP problem and lack of hardening of electrical grids to protect an entire nation from death. Does The Precipice get into that area of huge concern?
No it doesn't cover EMPs, maybe it should have. But they're unlikely to be true X risks, IMHO, given my limited understanding of them.

An EMP from the sun would be catastrophic. Same goes for North Korea, Iran, China or less likely probably, Russia, setting off a bomb or releasing it from satellites. Anything over 30 kms high over the US can wipe out entire grid of the USA through cascading effects. It's serious

I do worry that most modern military assets don't seem to be hardened against EMPs.
