A general comment about science communications. Scientists are rarely trained to talk to the public. It’s hard to explain complicated concepts simply. It’s easier to retreat to our familiar technical language.

Is there a good explanation for why the Economist, of all places, has such a strong science section? It's the only major news outlet which avoids the Gell-Mann amnesia effect when writing on my field.

What if it turns out that your field is the only one they get right and you're just assuming they get everything else right? is there a fancy name for that ? :-)
