What if it doesn't? It just won a Pulitzer based on a Woke Studies manifesto. What if the brand is so powerful and its long-abused goodwill so enduring that instead of becoming as irrelevant as a fringe outlet like The Nation, it successfully elevates fringe to the mainstream?

I suspect you'll see the same phenomena as we have in the UK. Once the institution becomes woke and profits disappear you will see loud voices calling for the state subsidy of it on the grounds of it being an essential service.

Just remember, much of your nightly news comes from the NYT. It chooses what’s important to cover and often frames how it is covered.

I get the NYT, at least the Sunday edition, for free. I’ve subscribed off and on for many years. More and more of it becomes unreadable until there’s nothing left. Yesterday there was nothing left. I doubt I will ever read it again, even for foreign news.
