NYPD responds to 600 calls/day to intervene in domestic violence incidents. 'Defund the police' would be catastrophic for victims of domestic violence. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nypd/services/law-enforcement/domestic-violence.page …
Who should respond, and how, if a domestic violence perpetrator is armed and dangerous?

Defunding the police will just lead to private security for the rich and no security for the poor. Reform, yes.
-
shift resources to security response methods that aren't so prone to abuses of power. police are blunt hatchets when many situations call for scalpels and other delicate tools.

"police in their current form" maybe spend money on training police to adaquetly respond? divert funding from military weapons to education and training?

How many of those 600 calls/day fit that description? Anyways for neutralizing armed & dangerous ppl an armed response may be required but that doesn't always need to be the first response (deescalation) and doesn't require an army the size of nypd.

Wouldnt 1 a day be enough?
