the state of the profession caters to a certain personality type that makes the job undesirable to most decent people. hence why most respond with “no way i could do that job”, i.e. “why the fuck would i want to be a part of that”.

Wait, you actually think the criminal justice system in the US is basically fine? That there should be no reform to hold police officer accountable at all? Germany (population 80 million) had 2 killings by police this year https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_Germany … . In the US it was over 100.

Dude, saying we need some actual police officers is not the same as saying 'the criminal justice system is basically fine'. Yes, criminal justice needs reform (especially re. victimless crimes). No, it doesn't need to be eliminated entirely.

Having managed Jnr and Snr social workers for years, all I can say is Good Luck! They are the most out of touch, indoctrinated, ideologically minded slack (but def underpaid) asses there is.
