I don't think other countries at this point think about the USA as "Western liberal democracy".... Sorry.

Unfortunately the problem isn't the system (which is to say the legal structure), it's the culture. No legal structure can survive without virtuous people committed to upholding it. We're seeing that first hand.

One thing is that foreign countries often get the blue side of the story. I'm working abroad and people here think Trump alone bungled corona and the protests in America are entirely peaceful. They're stunned when you show the other side of the story.

All things considered, I would still rather live in America than in China. As bad as the government might be, thanks to the US freedom culture, it's far harder for it to hide any crimes
