Yep, and in finance, and big law firms. Getting involved in politics and activism would be a serious step down in money, power, and prestige from those jobs.

It's also possible that tech has a bigger positive impact on humanity. There's a good case to be made that most progress came from inventions. E. g. women's rights might have happened in large part due to inventing better birth control and washing machines.
