A teacher once told us that in some Greek city-state, staying neutral in a civil war was seen as worst, because it was a sign you didn't care for your city; you weren't public-spirited. (I haven't been able to verify it myself, though.)

Sometimes you have a great tweet except for one added bit! “Non-voting” - definitely not a clear signal of apathy anymore. It’s like civil disobedience. Most non-voters for this election are actually _active_ anti-voters, making a statement and being public about it.

I love how academics always assume they are rational even when they have displayed extreme irrationality in public. The arrogance of the intellectual class is always their Achilles heel. They confuse intellect for wisdom, when history would suggest the two are not correlated
