Lots of rich men marry young women who then have everything and no need to make an income. They get bored staying at home and start doing charity work to feel good about bettering the world Gates didn't marry some young uneducated model. But I assume similar things happened here
A lot of people in the @Effect_Altruism movement are super rational and don't come across as warm and cuddly people. They just realize humanity has shared needs & we should try to help. I think @BillGates has a similar moral personality.
