Pains me to see Shanghai Fortress and Wandering Earth in the same list. WE was a masterpiece, written by int. acclaimed Liu Cixin. But SHF was a disaster. The director had to apologize to the public on Weibo for making such an awful box office flop.https://www.sixthtone.com/news/1004423/chinese-director-says-hes-truly-sorry-for-sci-fi-flop …

Well I enjoyed it. But I'm a sucker for science fiction spectacle. YMMV.

Liu Cixin who wrote Wandering Earth, wrote also Three Body Problem trilogy. Worth reading because: 1. it's a top grade hard sci-fi 2. it's fun 3. might be an allegory of China relations with the world

Yeah, I enjoyed those, particularly the footnotes about the Cultural Revolution (surprisingly). I saw the trailer for the Wandering Earth and never watched it (couldn't possibly suspend disbelief).

Don't forget Chinese comedy. Stephen Chow's made Journey to the West, Kung Fu Hustle, Love on Delivery and A Chinese Odyssey, just to name a few.
