The core reason I am religious is the problem with causation. i.e. It is illogical for there to be any effect without a cause, but take that back to the first cause and it cannot have its own cause. That is why I believe in God. Logic itself is based off of ideas of causation.

Aren't those bad reasons the main reason why certain people like religion. Provides a justification for their prejudices. As long as uncertainty is part of humanity we will have religion. And if at all it isn't, what replaces religion remains an open quesstion.

And i am not sure that we should wish its demise urgently. Bereft of a psychological anchor, humans might react in ways bordering on nihilism. Are we prepared for the fall out. Especially given social media amplification of panics. Just a thought!
