Modafinil, allegedly, speeds cognition, but slows speech, flattens intonation, flattens affect, & reduces speaker charisma. Might not help in debate.

Yes, I had an actor who went on it thinking it could help. She had tried all sorts of remedies, was superstitious, and beta blockers had helped with her stage fright in the past. But the modafanil made her “fuzzy,” like she couldn’t keep up with the rhythm of the scene.
