Anonymous question "I'm 23 and 2nd year PhD, by far the youngest in my lab and still get mistaken as an undergrad from time to time..how do I get over this 'age imposter syndrome' especially when supervising/teaching someone my age or older? Any advice appreciated. Thanks"

This is the best advice. I also respect their knowledge of history. I treat them like experts. I ask them for advice ( even if I don't take it) -
Also find out what's important to them because it might not be the same things that are important to your generation.

Absolutely perfect advice. I would add bring a sense of confidence and ask carefully thought out questions (not the type meant to demonstrate your own knowledge but ones that indicate a solid understanding and that you were listening to the speaker/presenter/ PI).

Totally agree. I was in the same position in the beginning of my doctoral program and doing these things surely helped me when working with students, but are good things to practice regardless of any age gap.
