Having a solid discussion with friends about how “good boys” should be more than just obedient. Brought up a great question - what chances did you have as a boy to prove your bravery? Was bravery encouraged by your parents as much as obedience?

Parents sent me to summer camp that promoted bravery in handling rifles & power tools, white water canoeing, wrestling against older boys, & telling ghost stories. Stoicism training, in retrospect.

Camp Greenbriar, West Virginia. Don't know what it's like today. But back in the 70s, it was based.
