Yes. Of course they exist. And of course they exist of experts in a variety of fields. But in a time where “the reality-based community” is viewed by the ruler and his cult as a the de facto political existential threat, no one has any interest to hear their screams.

There was a time when I thought that career civil servants cared about what they were doing. For example, the CDC has more than 10,000 people working there with an annual budget in the billions of dollars. The fact that there was no plan and no supplies boggles the mind.
