I assume they wouldn’t be performing the domestic labour in the first place unless someone (a husband) was compensating then with a home, food, luxuries, social decisions etc.
Some people are more motivated by reproduction & civilization than by crass materialism bro.

I mean I think most homemakers are motivated at least in part by a love of family and a sense of tradition.

Material goods, love, reproduction, tradition are all component parts of the compensation for domestic labour that don’t require cash.
