Why are they so opposed to factoring in genetic data? Most geneticists I read seem like decent human beings without insidious motivations and are driven by a pursuit for knowledge. Is it genetic determinism that they’re worried about? I feel like I’m missing something..
Tl;dr: if you don't include any genetic measures in your predictions of life outcomes, it's hard to predict life outcomes. Behavior geneticists have known for decades that 'shared family environment' predicts very little about human traits. If sociologists incorporated genetic data, they wouldn't be sociologists any more. They'd be exiled from their field. It's a political thing.
