The speed with which so much of America has gone from “don’t tread on me” to “indefinite nationwide house arrest for everyone sounds like a plan” without a peep of protest has been a remarkable and disheartening sight
I'm old enough to remember the same thing after 9/11 with the Patriot Act....

In reality, the Patriot Act had zero effect on my life compared to this stupid “lockdown” and I’m plenty old enough to remember it being enacted.

Did it, tho? Tracking and recording was the first step to making our society a herd of sheep. It would take something extremely blatant for us to wake up at this point..

Maybe it was a regional thing, but I remember a lot of adults (I was a kid) talking about the Patriot Act in grave tones when it was passed. They didn't like it, but, to your point, they didn't do anything about it.

We were also quite literally attacked by a sentient foreign power which, it seems, has not successfully repeated the event. Hazard "contained" Covid response has both been costlier, and failed to stop this virus from spreading
